SIR: With a General Election looming, and with both parties confident of success, even if they win, how do Labour propose to shift the power held by the Establishment? This power has been held by the Tories now for 17 years; it will not be easy! This power equates to being both monies held and the power of fear held by the ruling body, the monies for which they can use at any time for anything.

If the Tories win again, then we are in danger of becoming a one-party nation capable and able to maintain its stronghold over the establishment. The Establishmentarianists will hate a change in Government intrinsically because of the power and money they hold.

It would appear, however, that, in reality, the Tories do not want another term of office, or alternatively perhaps we are frightening them enough at our level to persuade them to keep out.

A second alternative is that perhaps Thatcher's policies have finally burned themselves out!

But what of the Establishment swing?
