ONE of Bolton Institute's most popular lecturers has died suddenly, aged 53, following a brain haemorrhage. Shanghai-born Dr Myron Kofman was a highly respected senior lecturer in the Humanities Department at the Institute.
He lectured in history and was very popular with students.
Mr Kofman was of Russian Jewish descent. He studied in Sydney and taught in France before settling in England where he gained a PhD at Lancaster University. He joined Bolton Institute in 1973.
A spokesman for the Institute said: "Myron will be remembered as a man who always found time for the students under his care and for anyone else who approached him.
"Part of his fame was due to the superb meals he regularly cooked for students at his Bolton flat.
"The staff of the Humanities department will also feel the loss of a colleague whose positive nature gave a boost to all."
