A TERRIFIED Bolton woman was surrounded by 10 youths in an angry confrontation after a dispute on the road last night.

The woman, aged 25, who is too frightened to be named, says she was a victim of road rage after she chased a car which she claims forced her to the side of the road.

The incident happened at about 9.15pm on Lever Edge Lane, Great Lever near the junction with Anfield Road.

Her angry boyfriend said: "She was driving towards Morris Green when this green car came up behind her and then started overtaking.

"Another car came in the opposite direction and she was forced to the side of the road. "But she was really upset and decided to follow the green car. It stopped further up the road and she got out to talk with the driver. But four other youths got out as well and then another red car drove up behind her and five more youths got out of that."

He added: "They were really aggressive and over the top. She was surrounded by all of them giving her abuse, saying it was all her fault."

The woman jumped back in her car and managed to drive off. She was taken to Bolton Royal Infirmary with whiplash and shock. She was off work recovering at home today. Her boyfriend is waiting to get the cost of damage to the Nissan Sunny which was badly scratched and dented assessed.

A police spokesman said: "If we receive full details of what happened we will investigate."
