BOLTON laid the foundation for a convincing Manchester Association win with a solid batting performance by their top order, with significant contributions from captain Craig Sackfield with 83 and David Tatton 69 not out.

Flixton never mastered the Bolton attack and only 21 from E Mills and 46 from H Deans enabled Flixton to reach 117 all out. All the Bolton bowlers acquitted themselves well, with Nazar showing his experience with 2 for 9 in eight overs.

The Skipton Lancashire Knockout against Bootle was a disappointment with the weather playing a more dominant role than the players.

Bootle batted first in a delayed start, this reduces the match to 31 overs and reached 164 for 5, with J Bean scoring 51 and D N Conlan 30 not out. Sadly the weather then intervened and the match had to be abandoned. The replay has been scheduled for Thursday with wickets pitched at 3pm. Bolton completely dominated the game against Lytham St Annes. Batting first they reached 242 for 4 in 51 overs, the foundation being laid by Nazar 112 and Alladice 66 who produced a second wicket partnership of 123. This was followed by stands of 52 and 39 for the 3rd and 4th wickets. Nazar's century brought his aggregate for the season to 617 runs in all competitions with an average of 88.

Lytham never mastered the pace of Steven 6-23 in 13.4 overs or the spin of Nawab 3-22 in 12 overs. Only skipper Perkins reached double figures with a belligerent 22, before the visitors were dismissed for 69, giving Bolton a win by 173 runs. FLIXTON V BOLTON
