SIR: I have recently read the article in the Evening News about the lady (Mrs Peat) who lives in Rutherford Drive, Westhoughton.
She says she saw what they thought was a heron in her garden.
I too saw a bird in our back garden about some weeks ago. In fact it was standing right on top of a conifer tree. I also managed to video it before it flew off. My husband did not think it was a heron as it was too big.
As we are quite local to Mrs Peat it could be still around the district.
