BOLTON Wanderers comeback hero Phil Brown today received a massive dressing room vote of confidence.
The return of the popular former skipper as manager Colin Todd's No. 2 is a hugely positive move in the club's bid to bounce straight back into the big time, according to star striker John McGinlay.
"It's a big step in the right direction," enthused McGinlay.
The Burnden goal hero believes Brown can help turn the clock back to the glory years which saw Wanderers leap from the soccer wilderness back to the big time.
The pair played enormous parts in the rebirth of Wanderers which owed so much to the team spirit Brown did more than anyone to foster.
"He was that spirit," said McGinlay. "He was the one who got the boys going. "He was a great motivator as a player and is the same as a coach. He has done a great job at Blackpool but still lives in Bolton and knows all the players so he won't need any time to find his feet in the new job. "Phil will help us to get back to the good things we were doing the last time we were in the First Division when we had a settled system.
"He knows the way we like to play and all our requirements and he's also very single minded.
"It's also a good move for him and he will be looking to make a success of it because he will be looking to get a manager's job in the next couple of years."
