HELEN Braddock produced a scintillating second round to qualify for the quarter-final of the Bolton Ladies Golf Championship yesterday.
The Old Links golfer, playing on her home course, had a disastrous opening round of 91 when her decision not to use a caddie backfired.
But last year's beaten finalist came bouncing back with a 77, the top score of the day for a total of 168 - the third best qualifying score.
Dunscar's Kath Shuttleworth led the way with 79-85-164, three shots clear of defending champion Turton's Jessie Baxter, who scored 84-83-167.
The other qualifiers are Rita Towler (Har) 83-85-168, Ruth Booth (Bol), 87-82-169, Linda Brown (Bre) 84-85-169, Vivien Wood (Bol) 86-85-171, Janet Williams (Dun) 86-86-172.
The draw for Thursday morning's quarter-finals is: Towler v Williams, Brown v Braddock, Baxter v Wood and Shuttleworth v Booth. The semi-finals will take place on Friday morning with the final in the afternoon.
