THE Greater Manchester Tourism Forum has launched its latest guide to industrial heritage themed attractions and events.

"Experience Greater Manchester" - supported by North West Regional Railways - features more than 200 attractions and events from canals and historic houses to museums, walks and international festivals.

The brochure identifies the rail stations which are within 15 minutes' walk of the attractions.

The forum, which was established in 1984, is made-up of officers of the 10 Greater Manchester authorities, North West Tourist Board and the Greater Manchester Visitor and Convention Bureau.

Bolton-area attractions include various mill shops, the house of Raja's in Fletcher Street, Warburton's Bakery, the Last Drop Village and the recently-refurbished Bolton markets.

Geoff Bennette, chairman of the Greater Manchester Tourism Forum, said: "With such a unique and colourful history it is not surprising that Greater Manchester has such an exciting range of industrial heritage attractions."

Funding from the European Regional Development Fund has allowed the GMTF to appoint Graham Fish as Project Manager for its industrial heritage initiative.

Free copies of "Experience Greater Manchester" can be obtained from Tameside Tourist Information Center, Freepost, 32 Market Street, Ashton-under-Lyne.
