A FAMILY was left "devastated" by a freak fire which destroyed a section of the roof on their bungalow.
The blaze yesterday afternoon, was started by a blow torch being used by workmen repairing the roof.
A workman suffered slight burns to his hand but escaped, along with homeowner Mrs Tracy Williams without serious injury.
The fire in Ullswater Close, Little Lever, happened while Tracy's husband, Trevor, was at work, and their daughter at school.
Mr Williams said: "Fortunately no-one was badly hurt, but I am devastated and very shocked."
