A BRAVE householder chased off two intruders in a bungled burglary bid despite being struck with a hammer.
The man, aged 25, who has not been named, disturbed the men who had broken into his Farnworth home through the kitchen at about 11.30pm last night.
One intruder attacked him with the hammer while the other threatened him with a cutlass.
He suffered chest wounds and cuts to the head. But chased them out of the house brandishing a bottle and they were forced to leave empty handed.
Both intruders were white, aged about 18, and 5ft 8. One was wearing a combat style jacket with a hood. The other was wearing dark clothing.
