A CAMPAIGN is being organised in Bolton to raise awareness of food hygiene.
The fourth national Food Safety Week runs from Monday, June 10, to Sunday, June 16, and the Food Control Unit of Bolton Council's Environmental Health Services is supporting the week.
There will be a promotional caravan in Victoria Square, Bolton, on Tuesday, June 11, and Thursday, June 13, when general food hygiene information will be available.
To help raise awareness of good food hygiene practices in the home there will be Environmental Health Services staff available to answer questions.
Children will receive balloons and badges and bookmarks, stressing the importance of hand washing, available from the caravan or through local libraries.
The main messages are that the temperature control of food is important; kitchens should be kept clean; cross contamination should be avoided and there should be no waiting between, preparation, cooking and eating of food.
