FOUR Triad gangsters - including a man from Bolton - have been jailed for life for the cold-blooded execution of a Chinese student. Eddie Hui, 28, who was targeted after he beat up one of the gang, was blasted in the head while working in his uncle's chip shop. Kung Fu master Keith Li, 28, of Heaton Mersey, Stockport, who ordered the killing, was convicted of murder and jailed for life at Manchester Crown Court. Be Keung, 28, of Blackley, got life while Henry Yip, 18, of Springfield Street, Burnden, Bolton, and John Wong, 17, of Cheetham, were ordered to be detained at Her Majesty's Pleasure for murder.
John Wai, 28, of Prestwich, was convicted of manslaughter while Eddie Leung, 19, of Ancoats, was found guilty of kidnapping and will be sentenced later.
Manchester's Recorder, Judge Rhys Davies QC, told them: "This was a cold-blooded execution of another young man with his whole life in front of him".
The jury heard how Triad gang rivalry exploded after Eddie Hui beat up Keung who was a member of Li's gang.
One of Hui's pals was kidnapped and forced to reveal his whereabouts. Wong and Yip travelled to the Golden Arch takeaway in Glossop while others waited in a pub.
As Hui tried to flee Wong blew off the back of his head with a sawn-off shotgun. Det Supt Andy Hardy, who led the murder investigation, said the enquiry was one of the most complicated and protracted ever carried out by the Derbyshire police.
He added: "I would like to convey my personal thanks to the many members of the Chinese community throughout the country who assisted the enquiry.
"My thoughts are with Eddie Hui's family in Hong Kong and with his friends and relatives in the United Kingdom. My officers will continue to provide help and support for them if they require it".
