WAR heroes have been robbed of their place in history by thieves who stole their roll of honour.
The thieves took the carved piece of wood with the first world war veteran's names as it was being stored in a Manchester church.
Now church officials are hoping BEN readers can help reinstate the soldiers to their rightful place in St Andrew's Church, Bromley Cross in time for Armistice Day.
They cannot erect a new memorial to the former pupils at Eagley Day and Sunday School because they do not know the list of names engraved on the stolen plaque.
Church warden Derek Bailey said: "We hope to hear from someone who has has go a photograph or picture of it. Maybe somebody knows their father or grandfather was on it and could let us know."
St Andrew's also lost a font, chairs and even gold thread unpicked from their altar when they put their artifacts in storage as a new church was built.
Anyone who help come up with the original names on the stolen plaque should contact church warden Derek Bailey on 408324.
