By TONY MOONEY A FARNWORTH woman claims that her daughter's life is being put in danger - because Bolton Council have refused to fix her fence.
Michelle Lightbown, aged 21, of Barnes Close, says she cannot afford to replace the broken panels herself.
But Bolton Council will only repair fences around houses not middle ones that divide them.
The fence has been broken since Michelle moved in a couple of months ago.
Her daughter Natasha, aged two, is able to clamber through it into the garden next door.
If the gate is open in the property next door, Natasha is able to walk out on to busy Frederick Street.
Michelle said: "My neighbour caught Natasha going through the gate next door. She could have been killed.
"The council say the fence is my responsibility. But I am a single parent and have no money to carry out the repairs myself.
"I rent the property from the council and I think it should be their responsibility to carry out repairs. There is barbed wire on the fence and nails sticking out of it.
"I even got in touch with the council before I moved in to ask them to do something about it."
Michelle says a council bricklayer is going to call at her property but she does not know if this is connected with her fence problem.
A council spokesman confirmed the policy that adjoining fences are the tenant's responsibility.
