A PIONEERING project involving the Indian Government, the World Bank and Bolton Institute has been completed successfully.
A group of college principals and senior lecturers from all over India has returned home after spending three months at Bolton Institute on an engineering refresher course aimed at updating the teaching of engineering subjects on the sub-continent.
Bolton Institute was chosen out of 30 British universities in the English-speaking world who all made bids to host the course.
It was backed by the Government of India and funded by the World Bank. "Our guests were all senior figures in Higher Education in India and it was an honour for the Institute to be selected to host the project," said Richard Fairbank, head of the Technology Development unit at Bolton Institute.
As well as the Institute's own staff, technical specialists in engineering subjects were drafted in to advise the visitors on latest developments.
The Indian visitors are pictured at the civic reception hosted by the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Eric Johnson.
