SIR: If the proposed updating of the Bolton precinct goes ahead, the Council should definitely move the Canopy to a more sheltered location. As a charity organiser using it for the past 10 years or so, I can assure the council members that it is the coldest, wettest and most windy place in Lancashire, even when the weather is mild. I think most other users will confirm this.
Incidentally, as we know that Marks and Spencers donated the Canopy, I think the fact that they receive a percentage of all bookings for the M and S charity fund should also be generally known.
I was given this information when I first started the charity fund years ago and, as far as I know, the circumstances are still the same.
