ELECTION fever has scuppered plans to hold a large political conference in Bolton.
Labour Party bosses were intending to hold their annual youth conference for young socialists at the Albert Halls next February.
Management had suggested councillors waive the £4,800 fee for the two day event hoping it would place Bolton firmly on the national conference map. But Labour Party chiefs cancelled the event before Bolton councillors had time to decide the amount of discount - due to be debated next Monday.
Organisers told council officials they had been forced to cancel because the conference now looks likely to clash with the build up to the next general election predicted to be held next Spring.
