SIR: So Bolton Social Services are going ahead and closing the two elderly people's homes and are easing consciences by saying there are enough beds available in the private sector for these vulnerable elderly people (some of whom are not able to make a choice).
This is despite public opposition, including a petition containing over 4000 signatures, hundreds of letters, hundreds of phone calls (not just a few, as stated at the sub committee meeting on the August 28).
Do they not listen? Did they take any notice?
In the future will they decide to close other EPHs with the same excuse "There are places in the private sector to put them"? Eventually, what will be left of the Social Services homes? Not many if any.
