UFO experts are probing reports of a mysterious bright object in the sky over north Bolton.

Specialists in the paranormal were called in after Harwood man Andrew Landwieser saw a brilliant white light moving in the sky on Sunday evening.

Andrew said: "It was quite cloudy but there was a clear patch in the sky and as I was walking along I noticed a really bright white light. It slowly became bigger as though it was getting closer.

"Then it shot off horizontally, leaving behind a glare where it had been for about 30 seconds."

The object was also seen by Andrew's girlfriend as they walked near the Safeway superstore. He said: "She was really shocked by it. "There's no chance it could have been a conventional plane, it just moved too fast. And I don't think it could have been a shooting star because it moved off in a perfect horizontal line.

A workmate of Andrew's girlfriend who also lives in Harwood also saw the light at about 9.35pm on Sunday.

And similar sightings were also reported to a UFO researcher in Bradford, West Yorkshire about five minutes later.

Founder of the Horwich UFO Research Group Phil Catterall did not see the object but he has spoken to Andrew and is now investigating.

This sighting follows a series of recent unexplained phenomena spotted high above Bolton.
