LEIGH RMI extended their unbeaten run to five matches with a single goal victory over Warrington Town at Hilton Park last night.
But the win cannot hide the fact that it was the Railwaymen's worst performance of the season.
"It was a real grafting effort, and below the standards we have set this season, but it is important to take points even when you don't play well," said manager Steve Waywell.
The only goal came in the 32nd minute when Dave Ridings finished off a five man move when he side-footed home just inside the post.
Earlier the ever improving Matty Weston had hit the bar and Chris Shaw blazed over the top from a yard.
Warrington's best chance came midway throughthe second half when keeper Dave Felgate gave the ball away to Chris Wilcocks before pulling off a redeeming save.
"Chances were at a premium," said Waywell. "And for that you have to give credit to both defences."
