POLICE are being urged to crack down on speeding motorists at The Hoskers, Westhoughton. Town councillor Linda Thomas said the road by the new St George's School has been the scene of several minor accidents. Cllr Mrs Thomas said the road had not yet been formally adopted by Bolton Council but the authority had placed road markings.
She said: "As you come to the school there is a blind corner. Some people drive round that bend on the right. A lamp post was hit six times in one week. And now the school is there, parents are parking cars right up to the bend."
Cllr Mrs Thomas raised the problem at Westhoughton Town Council's planning, finance and general purposes meeting attended by Supt Sandra Lee and Insp Fred Menzies. Cllr Thomas asked the police to look at the problem of speeding. She said if one or two are stopped it might make others slow down.
