TWO of Bolton's planned multi-screen cinema schemes were due to go before planning councillors later today. There are currently five schemes in the pipeline.
The two being considered today are both near Bolton town centre - the Bolton Brady site at Kay Street and the Weston Engineering site at Summerfield Road.
Three cinema complexes have already been given the go-ahead.
They are Bolton Wanderers' sports village at Horwich, the Tonge Valley complex and the Bolton Greyhound stadium.
The dog track scheme has been called in by Environment Secretary John Gummer for assessment.
Leicester-based Helical Retail Ltd will today have two applications considered for the Bolton Brady site. One for leisure use and one for non-food retail.
Councillors were to visit the site before returning to the town hall to make a decision.
Earlier this year, councillors refused permission for Vine Cross Investments for leisure use on the Weston Engineering site.
But the application has now been re-submitted and officers are recommending approval.
