Wanderers are ready to offer Everton's Swedish international Anders Limpar a chance to revive his career in England.
Goodison boss Joe Royle has put the winger up for sale and Colin Todd is interested.
But he will want 31 years old Limpar on trial first before he is willing to match Everton's £750,000 valuation.
Todd dismissed suggestions that a deal had already been agreed and, having had a keen interest in the former Arsenal player last season, is not sure that he will be willing to play outside the Premiership.
The Burnden boss said today: "I've had a circular from Everton which says Anders Limpar is one of three players they are willing to let go but I haven't had any contact with Joe Royle.
"I would be interested if there was a possibility of taking a player of his calibre on loan."
Limpar, who joined Arsenal from Cremonese six years ago, has played more than 150 games in the top flight but has failed to command a regular first team slot at Goodison.
Meanwhile, Wanderers skipper Gudni Bergsson came through a 45-minute fitness test in the Reserves' 3-1 defeat at Tranmere last night to press his claim for a first start of the season at home to Portsmouth on Saturday.
