SIR: We read through the media about various organisations to receive cash from the Lottery. Unfortunately many desperate for help get nothing at all, because of the lottery rules.

One in particular close to me is the Jubilee Pool. It is a sad memory to the people who strived so hard to raise money to build it. It says on a plaque at the poolside 'A sense of freedom for the disabled'. How true that is.

It is of therapeutic value and caters to the needs of people with disabilities, who for various reasons, are unable to use the other local pools.

In the past I have written to the people in authority including a local MP. They have politely replied, giving reasons and information as to why no cash is available.

This pool is desperately in need of refurbishment. It seems to me that money can be found for prestigious places. But anything needed for the most vulnerable are pushed aside and forgotten. At the end of the day it makes me wonder if the powers that be really care?
