By DOREEN CROWTHER Showbusiness Correspondent BRASS band enthusiasts will have a double treat at the Victoria Hall on Saturday.
They will be able to hear the Marple Brass Band which last weekend won this year's Annual British Brass Band Open Championship and Wingates Brass Band who took ninth place
The trophy for the best soloist went to Helen Fox, Marple's principal cornet.
Charlotte Cooper, aged 23, of Astley Bridge is a percussionist with Marple.
She is a former member of Bolton Youth Brass Band and Eagley Band as is Wendy Williams, also 23, who used to live locally. Wendy plays bass trombone with Marple.
Charlotte, a flute teacher in Bury, said: "We were rehearsing every night before the event."
The band, who were drawn last, played Elgar's Severn Suite.
The proceeds from Saturday's concert will be shared among the two bands and the Victoria Hall.
