A GROUP of ex-Paratroopers met for the first time in nearly 40 years in an emotional re-union.
Breightmet man Bill Lomax, 60, got together with former colleagues of the 1st Parachute regiment.
Brian McCombe and George Dean served with Bill in 12 Platoon 'D' Coy of the 1st Parachute Regiment in Cyprus.
And they all took part in the Suez campaign in 1956. Shortly after that they left the forces and went their separate ways.
Bill, of Harpford Drive ,said: "It was great to meet up again and think back to those times and see how they're doing now."
After waiting so long the trio will be meeting again next month. A full scale re-union for more than 20 men takes place at Aldershot on October 31.
