ISOBEL Booler is among hundreds of volunteers heading for a new life this autumn. She will work in Namibia with the development aid charity, Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO).
Isobel, aged 25, from Ramsbottom, will spend two years working as an English teacher in Namibia. She leaves next month.
The VSO charity sends skilled and qualified volunteers to work in partnership with poorer people in 59 developing countries.
They live with local communities for two years, passing on their knowledge and skills. There are currently 1,870 volunteers overseas, working in a variety of jobs including bricklayers, plumbers, lawyers, accountants and doctors.
The charity needs more skilled and qualified volunteers from a range of backgrounds. Applicants must be aged between 20 and 70 and have no dependants. Volunteers receive a local wage and VSO pays for flights and insurance.
Anyone interested should telephone VSO Enquiries Unit on 0181 780 1331.
