BOLTON's planning councillors have bowed to pressure from local residents and turned down the controversial Westhoughton housing scheme off Collingwood Way.
Letters to this newspaper have illustrated the strength of the objections to the scheme and more letters have been sent to Bolton Council with a petition containing 203 signatures.
The councillors have done well to heed them. We are quick to criticise when we think the wishes of local people are ignored.
On this occasion the council deserves our praise.
