THE winners of the Bolton Evening News Amateur Stage Awards were announced last night during a dinner hosted by the BEN and the Bolton Amateur Theatre Societies at the Albert Halls.

Farnworth Little Theatre won the Best Drama Award for Beyond Reasonable Doubt. Also nominated in this category were Bolton Little Theatre for Bouncers and Marco Players for Out of Order. The Best Musical Award went to Bolton Little Theatre for Chicago. Also nominated were Nohow Productions for The Baker's Wife and St Philip's AODS for Jesus Christ Superstar.

The Special Award went to Horwich RMI and District AODS for scenery in The King and I. Also nominated were Bolton Catholic Musical and Choral Society for sets in Die Fledermaus and the Phoenix Theatre Company for costumes in The Importance of Being Earnest.
