A SECOND fire station in Greater Manchester has decided to double up on the number of vehicles that they send out in an emergency because of attacks by hooligans.
Staff at Broughton fire station took the decision last night after they came under attack from stone throwers - some as young as four - while attending a malicious car fire in Ferry Lane.
Last month Wythenshawe fire fighters were instructed to double up on 999 calls. A fire brigade spokesman said: "The brigade is very concerned about the disturbing trend of unprovoked attacks on the fire brigade whose duty it is to help the public.
"We continue to work closely with the police, local authorities and community groups to address this matter in a positive way.
"We would like to reassure the public that we will continue to do so."
