THE heartbroken parents of a Bolton woman who was killed in a holiday motorbike accident in Ireland have paid tribute to a daughter who "lived life to the full".

Mrs Barbara Overton, 46, died instantly from multiple injuries, in a head-on collision while she was riding pillion on her husband Derek's motorcycle.

The couple from Templecombe Drive, Sharples, had been celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary on the day of the tragedy.

Derek, 43, a Norweb employee, was rushed unconscious to hospital and today was still in a critical condition.

Barbara was originally from St Annes and continued to commute to work at Guardian Insurance there from her home in Bolton.

Her parents, Muriel and Ernest Charlesworth, who live in the seaside resort, spoke yesterday of their devastation.

Mrs Charlesworth said: "She was a lovely person. They did lots of exciting things. They lived their lives to the full."

Mr Charlesworth added that his daughter used to visit them every day in her lunch hour.

He said: "Barbara loved sailing and rock climbing. She was well liked and well loved."

The couple had been travelling along Ireland's picturesque west coast road when their motorbike was in collision with an oncoming Vauxhall Cavalier, the occupants of which escaped without injury.

The pair, both keen sports people, each had their own motorbike. They belonged to Bolton Sailing Club at Belmont.

Mrs Overton's sister, Catherine, has flown from Canada to help her parents, while her other sister, Margaret, who lives in Scotland, has gone to Ireland to be with Derek in hospital.
