BOLTON tomato grower Tom Harrington thinks he may have set a horticultural record - one of his plants has SIXTY plump tomatoes on a single truss! Tom of Fair Street, Morris Green, says he's never seen anything like it in his life. And other growers also reckon he has grown a freak.
The amazing toms are Shirley grafted F1 variety and they have sprouted from a single truss which splits into five. The huge crop measures 20 inches wide.
Tom has been growing tomatoes for 25 years in his unheated green house and this is the first time he has grown so many tomatoes from one truss.
