SALFORD'S Hope Hospital has been given a double cash handout. Fearnley Construction, the company which built the £500,000 antenatal unit at the hospital last year, gave £2,500 to buy examination couches.
Prestwich Lions Club raised £600 which will go to the Diabetes Centre for an ophthalmoscope, used to detect the diabetic eye disease retinopathy which is preventable with early screening.
Two other ophthalmoscopes have also been bought with other donations.
Centre Manager, Sister Pauline Lee said: "We would like to thank everyone for their generosity. We needed these three pieces of equipment".
Prestwich Lions is celebrating its 25th Charter Anniversary this year and is looking for new members.
