THE £5-a-week man, just as much as the man who can order 30 guinea suits, will be able to see a complete outfit of smartly tailored utility garments within his means at the 'Britain can make it' exhibition in London. At a preview today, among waterproof clothing, was a raincoat which is made waterproof in the weaving, first put into operation in designing jackets for paratroops. Flannel trousers which will not shrink - also a war process - were also on view.

From the Evening News, September 16, 1871of=helveticaf+iof=helvetica, describing the show, says - The 'exhibits' are very choice. In No 1 stall is penned a very pretty specimen of the ancilla Britannica, or ordinary barmaid of the British Isles. Judges consider her likely to carry off a prize.

No 4 is a lively brunette, petite and graceful; betting is very brisk on this competitor. No 12 is conspicuous as the only one with the happy thought to dress her hair in 'corkscrew curls'. No 16 is the sole competitor who brings an arch of close cropped hair over her brow in the style of the boy-King Edward, at Madame Tussauds.

All without exception are excessively obliging, and keep to the strict letter of the rule, which requests 'every young lady to ingratiate herself with the public in the most affable manner at her command, without undue forwardness or frivolity.' Altogether, the spectacle is touching by its sweet simplicity in this age of sham.
