MANCHESTER City's manager-elect Dave Bassett has fired a warning shot to Bury on the eve of tonight's Coca-Cola Cup clash at Gigg Lane.
Bassett is in line to take over the Maine Road hot seat after his current Crystal Palace side's tricky second round first leg tie.
But the demanding boss is in no mood to take it easy tonight, pointing out he has a personal reason for ensuring the Shakers do not put another one over on him.
"My immediate thoughts are on the game against Bury," he said.
"I got knocked out of the Coca-Cola Cup there with Sheffield United last season and I don't want a repeat of that."
Both teams go into tonight's match on a high, with Bassett's First Division outfit in confident mood following Saturday's 3-1 demolition of his expected new club while the Shakers' 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury made it five wins and just one defeat from the opening nine games of the season.
