SIR: I am writing to ask if your readers know of the AA's 'Fair Play Policy'.
As we had cause to use the AA callout on five occasions during the last year, all for genuine reasons, they have sent us a letter informing us that we are close to the limit of callouts in one year. Also that payments will be increased if we reach the limit of eight callouts for the two family cars we have covered.
I have written to them pointing out that 'Fair Play' should work both ways. They never offered me a reduction in past years when I never called them out at all.

A spokesman from the AA explained that the "Fair Play Policy" had been implemented this year to make the service more efficient.
The policy aims to stop the minority of members, who do not regularly service their vehicles, from abusing the system.
The spokesman said the AA accepted that some drivers could have a run of bad luck and need to call out out mechanics several times in a short period.
However, he added that the company needed to keep tabs on the situation.
"We are here to give advice and help to drivers who may need it," said the spokesman.
