NEW moves are to be made to cut down on winter electric blanket fires in Bolton.
Over a three-day period next month, Bolton's Trading Standards Officers are offering a free electric blanket testing service.
Officers and an electrical expert will be on hand on October 14, 15 and 16 to check out blankets, whatever their age.
On Monday 14th, between 9am and noon, they will be at the Town Hall-Area Office, Market Street, Westhoughton.
On Tuesday 15th, between 9am and 5pm, they will be at the Consumer Advice Centre, Ashburner Street, Bolton, and on Wednesday 16th, they will be offering a service at the Public Hall-Area Office, Lee Lane, Horwich.
For the infirm or elderly, there is a free collection service, but the Standards and Licensing Unit at Bolton Council on Bolton 364656 must be contacted to make arrangements before October 9.
