SIR: I am sorry that one of your recent correspondents was not satisfied with the telephone service he received from Nynex. My experience with the company has been different.

They installed my new telephone line on the promised date and their men worked until 8.30pm to ensure that it was satisfactory. This compared with my experience of British Telecom men, who always seemed to be going on strike at 4pm.

Over the first eight months Nynex has saved me more than 30 per cent compared with my average BT bills for last year. British Telecom are still putting it about that my previous number with them is 'temporarily out of order'.

I know which firm I prefer!
