Wanderers' youngsters started their FA Youth Cup adventure with a convincing win against Mansfield Town at Burnden Park last night.
Scottish forward Marco Minchella was the hero, netting twice to put the Preliminary Round tie beyond the Stags' reach.
The home side took the lead in the 21st minute when Mansfield keeper Nicky Weaver brought Minchella down in the box.
Minchella picked himself up and sent Weaver the wrong way from the penalty spot.
Gareth Feeney was particularly effective down the right wing but Bolton had to settle for a one-goal lead at the break.
Wanderers started where they left off in the second half with Minchella grazing the bar with a right wing cross in the 46th minute.
Minchella's second goal came nine minutes later when he collected the ball on the right and ran into the box before unleashing a confident right foot shot under Weaver and into the far corner.
Wanderers keeper Matthew Glennon produced a faultless performance and his long clearance led to the third goal in the 66th minute.
Promising striker Lee Potter latched on to Glennon's kick, shook off a defender and smashed a drive high over Weaver into the roof of the net.
Mansfield enjoyed sustained periods of pressure in the second half but in the end were no match for Wanderers, particularly in front of goal.
WANDERERS: Glennon, Haley, Pryers, Hallat, MacLeod, Holden, Feeney, Doherty, Potter, Minchella, McCleave. Subs: Trueman, Corrigan, Morrison.
