BOLTON based bakers Warburtons have made a generous donation of dough to a scheme that helps the homeless.
The firm has donated £2,500 to The Big Step programme, which offers advice and support to the homeless vendors of The Big Issue, in the North West.
The Big Step is the charitable arm of The Big Issue and was set up to help the homeless as they progress from selling the magazine into employment and training.
The donation will help fund a caseworker, who works with the vendors to draw up personal development plans and to help them take responsibility of their future.
Jill Kippax from Warburtons commented: "Our donation will go towards the salary of the caseworker, who provides the support to help local homeless people in the north tackle their problems and work towards achieving their own goals and ambitions.
"We were impressed by the culture of helping the homeless by self help, not by handouts."
