SYD Lawrence, the star of his own Syd Lawrence Orchestra makes a personal appearance at Bolton's Albert Halls tonight, for a concert which is now become something of an annual pilgrimage. The Syd Lawrence Orchestra, this year celebrating it's 30th anniversary, is renowned the world over as the premier touring Big Band, faithful in it's recreation of those magical sounds from the bands of yesteryear, and it continues break new ground by taking the music further afield, attracting audiences of all ages. To those familiar with this great band, it's history requires no further explanation.

However, the important news is that Chris Dean, one of Britain's top session musicians and band leaders, became the orchestra's musical director on 21st June 1996.

Chris's love for the Big Band sound was forged during his membership of the Syd Lawrence Orchestra in the mid 70s and early 80s.

His return to the Syd Lawrence Orchestra has been timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the founding of the orchestra and will ensure the ongoing success of this world leading band, well into the next millennium.

As Syd himself said in 1980, "I see Chris Dean, surrounded by top rate musicians, becoming a premier band leader of the future".

Under the directorship and leadership of Chris Dean, The Syd Lawrence Orchestra are well positioned to continue to carry the popularity of the Big Band sound to audiences the world over for many years to come.
