AN application for a licence to operate two-day winter holidays to Paris for as little as £5 was made to the Air Transport Licensing Board today. The holiday would include return air fare, two nights in a Paris hotel with breakfast, and transport to and from the airport. The application is made by Skyways International. Z
THE site for Bolton's new swimming baths has been switched from the town centre to the Spa Road/Chorley Street corner of Queen's Park. Bolton Amenity Services Committee took this plunge yesterday on the advice of officials, who painted a future picture of a six-acre recreation complex, including such facilities as an athletics track, a sports hall and a boating lake.

IT has been cold enough for winter during the past few weeks, and a glance at the shop windows in the town suggests that Christmas is already upon us. Many shops have Christmas cards for sale, and these are rapidly being snapped up by the public. The quota allowed for this year is larger than that allowed for last, so there will not be the same shortage. Bolton shops also show a more plentiful display of children's toys. There is more variety this year, and the quality and workmanship have improved, but prices are just as high as they were last year.

A MIDDLE-aged man named Martin Finnigin, cab driver, in the employ of Messrs Holden, was charged with assaulting a youth named Walter Birch, another cab driver. - The lad stated at the Borough Court that on Tuesday evening, between five and six, he was going down Station-street, and managed to reach the stand before the defendant, who was consequently annoyed. Defendant ran the shaft of his cab into the body of Birch's cab, and getting off his vehicle, shook the lad and tore his trousers in front. Samuel Bayley corroborated. - Defendant alleged provocation on the part of the complainant. - The magistrates fined defendant 5s and costs.
