SIMON Coleman is ready to throw his hat into the ring for another of his spectacular comebacks.
The talented defender, sidelined since limping out of the pre-season game at Hull, is set for a reserve team outing at Derby next Thursday.
And, if he has his way, he will be aiming to rescue Colin Todd from the selection problem caused by international calls.
Whether the Burnden boss will consider Coleman for the games at Wolves (October 2) and Oxford (Oct 5), when Gerry Taggart and Gudni Bergsson are on World Cup duty, remains to be seen. But the determined defender has form for producing the unexpected, noteably his spectacular goalscoring return at Middlesbrough where he helped Wanderers to their first away win in the Premiership after a year out with a broken leg. If it had been left to him, he would have played in Thursday's Pontin's League game but Todd, delighted with his progress after his calf injury, had to put a brake on his enthusiasm.
He may have to do the same again.
