BURY attempt mission impossible tonight as they bid to upset the odds at First Division form side Crystal Palace.

The Shakers must overturn last week's 3-1 home defeat in tonight's second round second leg tie if they are to keep their Coca-Cola Cup campaign alive.

Bury boss Stan Ternent is acutely aware of the size of the task but is calling on his side to give it their best shot.

The Gigg Lane men proved they mean business as they took the rare step of travelling south the day before the game in a bid to get their preparations just right for their toughest test of the season.

They will continue with their ambitious three-man strikeforce as they seek the goals they need to produce a cup shock which would rival last week's 4-1 victory for Third Division Lincoln City over Manchester City.

And Ternent said: "They are a very good side and they proved it with a 6-1 win at Reading on Saturday.

"But I was heartened by our performance in the first leg and it was only that last minute goal which sent everybody home feeling a little flat.

"We've got it all to do but you never know."

Bury expect Gordon Armstrong to recover from a knock he received in Saturday's lethargic goalless home draw with Luton Town with the Shakers likely to field an unchanged side.
