A MAN was still being quizzed this lunchtime by detectives probing the murder of Lowton divorcee Shirley Brown.
The 36-year-old man has been held at Leigh Police Station since he was arrested in a dawn swoop on a house in the Lowton area on Monday.
Magistrates at Leigh last night granted a warrant allowing police to detain him further.
Divorcee Mrs Brown, aged 46, was discovered strangled to death with her own tights in the bedroom of her bungalow home in Allerby Way, Lowton, three months ago.
Her body was discovered after her 10-year-old son, Richard, returned home from a weekend away in Newcastle-upon-Tyne with his father.
