LEIGH RMI extended their unbeaten run to eight matches with this impressive win at Netherfield.

Unbeaten since the first match of the season, the Railwaymen produced their best performance of the campaign.

"The scoreline didn't flatter us at all, in fact we could have won with a greater margin," said a delighted manager Steve Waywell.

"Having said that, Dave Felgate pulled off two fabulous saves immediately after the break to keep us in front."

RMI took the lead on the half hour when Keith Evans finished off a Mick Wallace and Chris Bermingham inspired move.

Felgate kept the lead intact before a Wallace rocket from the edge of the box increased Leigh's lead.

Man of the Match Dave Ridings created the killer goal on the hour for Bermingham with a perfect through ball.

The only piece of bad news for Waywell was the recurrence of Mattie Weston's hamstring problems. He was replaced by Mick Charlton, who himself only lasted 10 minutes after a crunching tackle left the speedy defender limping badly.

Both players are rated doubtful for Saturday's FA Cup tie against Billingham at Hilton Park.
