'Tis such a pretty picture,
Beneath my windowsill.
It gives such pleasure, both to me,
And to those who drink their fill.
Folks tell me how well-kept it looks,
How colourful and bright;
A solace to the jaundiced eye,
A balm to jaded sight.
With daffodils in Springtime,
And as the year unfolds,
The gorgeous blooms of summer,
Delightful to behold.
Carnations and geraniums,
And honeysuckle fair,
Columbine, freesia, roses,
Their fragrance fills the air.
But if you'd offer credit,
There's something you should know,
My home is on the first floor up;
The gardeners dwell below! Ida Forrest,
Fourth Avenue, Heaton, Bolton.
