LOVE on the lake could be set to blossom again for a broken-hearted bird whose mate sadly took flight and swanned off.
For a mystery donor has provided a new black swan for Astley Park to hopefully end the loneliness.
Chorley Borough Council's community services committee chairman councillor Terry Brown will today (Thursday) formally introduce the remaining swan to a new mate.
He said: "We are hoping that the pair will get on with each other and that perhaps sometime in the future, a family of black swans will become an established feature at the park.
"We are very pleased about the gift and the council would like to extend its thanks to the donor."
Coun Tony Gee, who helped arrange the love match, said: "It is a kind and generous gift and we are delighted to accept the swan on behalf of the council."
