SIR: To answer Mrs J Horsefield's question - "Was I the only baby born at B.R.I.?" - sorry, no. I also was born there in May, 1931, by Caesarean Section.
My mother was in Nicholson Ward. Her name was Alice Smith (nee Sykes). My father's name was Thomas Smith. I was christened Joyce Maud, my second name being after the staff nurse who helped to deliver me. Her name was Maud Mary (surname unknown).
