Near where I live, they've built a park,
Children playing from dawn to dark.
Swings and roundabouts, seesaws too,
Ever so many things to do.
Climbing frames and cycle tracks,
Children falling on their backs.
Sliding down some overhead wires,
Some of them even started fires.
Last Sunday was the "Opening Day",
People came from far and away.
They came in buses and in cars,
Oh, how the noise my poor head jars.
There were kids and dogs and ice-cream carts,
Then, lo and behold, the disco starts.
The music playing from noon till dusk,
I wished that disco would bite the dust.
Now, I've nowt against children playing,
But when you're old and your hair is greying,
You wish and wish the din would cease,
So you could enjoy a bit of peace. B Lilley,
Cromford Close, Halliwell, Bolton.
